I am happy about the growth and changes in marketing as a whole but not too excited about the challenges of accessing information in my country Nigeria and West Africa. For me, there is so much I want to do with information because therein lies the meat and pieces of life, a network provider actually put it so simple- data is life.
I would like to go dip into the mind and heart of Social media, to know in details how many contents Nigeria and Africa share on daily, hourly, weekly and monthly basis. I would love to find out, which industry share more contents, what each industry spend monthly and annually to promote their brands and services via the common social channels like Facebook, twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Snapchat. It would be so cool to know the average time Nigerians spend on contents with age, sex, location accurately described to help digital marketer sell better the value of digital marketing to clients. It would be very helpful when engagements and interest are vividly analysed as a case study by top social network platforms.
I would love to use competitive data to help various industries make good choice of their marketing budget so as to know what choices and combinations to select for better ROI and brand recognition. It will be awesome to see how digital marketing as performed alongside bill boards, TVs, Radios, Bus Advertisement and any other means of advertising in terms of naira and kobo budget, also analysing purpose either for awareness or sales, the ratio of Ad spend to bottom line at the end of a period.
There is much information there to pull from different sources- I am aware that they are scattered about in their crudeness waiting for someone to collate and use them to make right marketing decisions. We can’t be lost inside data, we only need to dig and mould pieces together for easy and better decision making- data portrays a better and much more reliable path to succeed. If all search engine networks would work with me especially Google Nigeria on information to help me reach the common man on the streets, the true sex of registered Nigerians and age range, sites that are performing better in terms of category, well I would be glad throughout the year.
Now let me bring it home, because there is an adage that say “ile la ti n keso ro de”. I would love to know what our own Seun of Nairaland is doing with data in respect of topics frequently posted and pushed, the marketing impact of advertising to consumers in terms of impressions, time users spend on certain topic, average number of contribution per topic per sectional discussion, a bit of some info on which industry invest more with information broken down to small, medium and large scale enterprise. This in itself would help owners of brands make insightful decision on their resources
I need to work with information, to help businesses grow, to contribute meaningful without wasting scarce resources and time. These are my plight for 2019 and so I hope all these social media networks and search engine networks can pick this post and work with them. They should concentrate on other countries and continents alone- people like me need more information to work with, they should work with us here to release rich and impactful data.
